Wokeup early {parent speak for I was woken up and mentally threw a tantrum about the whole thing}, enjoyed a coffee then headed to John Lewis to return the record player we bought as the speed was out.  Got there with little man, good space, manoeuvred us to the building, trip to the toilet then to the returns desk only to be told it had to go to a different floor. Rang the bell, sat to wait. Go into my bag to find the receipt out of my…oh…my purse which was at home post-Chinese.  Joy!  Ended up at a retail park via home and spent a small fortune on clothes for Scotland instead.  Then spent the afternoon with family at a local pub.  Loved having another child about to entertain William!  Still not sure about us providing the entertainment via a sibling though.

Well a week of healthy, wholesome eating ended with a Chinese takeaway.  Old habits die hard.  I think I’m too personally invested in my role, I find it hard to leave the intensity, pace and stress of it behind.  My upcoming holiday could be a way to intentionally work on this I think.

I had cornflakes with whole milk for dinner and it was so satisfying.  Not sure why but it feels such a treat to have breakfast for dinner.  However, I really wanted to watch Scott&Bailey to discover that last week’s episode was the last of the series. It was episode 3. Mr ITV, 3 episodes is not a series!!

Today I’ve felt overwhelmed.  And emotional although that might be hormonal as after almost 10 weeks without a period my body is a bit confused about life.  We had gammon with new potatoes and salad for dinner which was both lazy and delicious.  I resisted the vanilla lattes, the pastries and peanut m&ms once more.  No Julian Michaels today though.

Today I weighed myself and realised I’ve gained about 20 pounds in 3 months.  Shit is what sprung to mind.  I knew my clothes were a little uncomfortable but 10 pounds uncomfortable but 20 pounds bursting at the seams uncomfortable!  So I did 20 minutes of Jillian Michaels {after spending 15 minutes locating the PS4 controller}.  Then followed a day of good choices:

  1. Black coffee with sweetener rather than a vanilla latte
  2. No pastry
  3. A beef burrito half rice and half salad box instead of a large burrito wrap, no cheese
  4. Water instead of diet coffee or cups of tea
  5. No custard creams eaten mindlessly or otherwise {after seeing there are 3 weight watcher SPs in each!}
  6. No chips or sauces with my dinner
  7. No peanut m&ms at 7sp for 100g!
  8. Also no peanut m&ms that aren’t written down and no one sees eaten so therefore don’t count
  9. Everything written down

I loved today.  William went swimming, cream teas before noon and pjs on from noon.  The bookcase finally got built after attempting to make it Pinterest worthy with some wallpaper and midge podge.  Please an evening hanging out with my hubby and watching Scott & Bailey back to back.

Today was a tough day on the parenting front. ¬†William was tired and my tank is low as well as struggling with recent weight gain and my seemingly never ending battle of the bulge. But I’m grateful I get the opportunity to do this parenting gig. I have to sometimes I remind myself that it is grace and not perfection that matters.
